I’m Emily, nice to meet you!
I’m a licensed therapist, dog mom to two chocolate labs, and someone who really gets what it’s like to feel stuck in patterns you are aware of…but can’t seem to change.
A little about me! I grew up in a culturally rich home. My mom is from Mexico, my dad is from Lebanon, and like a lot of people raised in immigrant households, emotions weren’t exactly something we talked openly about. I became the peacekeeper in and out of the home. I naturally loved listening, and keeping the peace (at all costs) was a role I played early on. That naturally led me to becoming a therapist, but truthfully, I had to do my own healing before I could really help others.
For a long time, I dealt with anxiety, people-pleasing, and that constant feeling that I had to earn love by being low-maintenance and “easy to be around.” It wasn’t until I started getting really honest with myself (through therapy, boundaries, self-compassion, and lots of unlearning) that I started to feel more grounded and connected to who I actually am. That’s also when I was finally able to show up fully in relationships, including the healthy marriage I have today — which wouldn’t have been possible for me without doing that inner work first.
In therapy, I’m all about helping you understand your story, aka: where your patterns come from, how they’ve served you, and how to shift them so you can finally feel more peace and clarity in your life. I work a lot with people who feel anxious in relationships, stuck in people-pleasing, unsure of who they are, or just tired of feeling like they’re never enough. Together, we’ll explore how your past is playing out in your present, especially through the lens of family dynamics, origin wounds, cultural identity, and inner child work.
Clients often describe me as warm, grounded, and easy to talk to. I create a space where you can cry, laugh, say the hard things out loud, and feel genuinely supported. I’m not just going to sit there and nod. I’ll ask curious, thoughtful questions and gently challenge you to shift what’s no longer serving you, all while holding deep compassion for where you’ve been.
I pull from IFS (Internal Family Systems), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), attachment theory, inner child work, narrative therapy, and family systems. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach — therapy should feel personalized, supportive, and real. And most importantly, I believe the connection between us is key. Feeling safe with your therapist is what allows the real work to happen! And something I don’t take for granted.
Over the past few years, I’ve lived in Texas, Arizona, South Korea(!!) , Florida, and soon I’ll be moving to Alaska. I love seeing how people live and connect across different cultures, and I bring that same curiosity and openness into the therapy space.
If you’re feeling anxious, disconnected from yourself, or like you’re repeating the same emotional patterns over and over, I’d love to help you untangle it all and reconnect with the most real, grounded version of you. I can’t wait to see you grow to the version of you that has been inside of you all along. :)
